Some important things to keep in mind before your appointment.
We are located at 602 Ogilvie Street, Whitehorse, Yukon.
We strongly recommend you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time. Don’t forget your healthcare card, and please bring along any prescriptions you are presently taking. If you are feeling sick, please call us to reschedule to change to a phone appointment.
Our goal is always to provide the best care—with that in mind, please come to your appointment with any questions or concerns you have about your health.
Depending on your appointment type, we have some more specific notes and reminders.
Paps
Women do not need to have their first Pap smear until they are 25 years of age or three years after first sexual intercourse, whichever happens later.
The ideal time to have a pap is mid-cycle. We cannot perform a pap smear if you’re menstruating at the time of your appointment.
If your pap smears have always been normal, the current recommendation is to have them done every 3 years.
Birth Control Consultation
There are different types of birth control available and we recommend doing some research before you come in. These are some good resources to help:
- Sex & U, an initiative of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada
- It’s A Plan, a guided quiz from the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada
